  • Jump for Heart

Jump for Heart is coming to our school! In order to give everyone the opportunity to participate, Mrs. Truitt is going to run the Jump for Heart event during P.E. time on Friday, February 13. Students interested in fundraising for this worthwhile event will be bringing home collection envelopes. Students may also go to heart.org/jump and click on students sign up to begin online donations. As always the American Heart Association is offering some great gifts depending on the amount raised and have included a duck with a lanyard for just a $5.00 donation. Envelopes will be due back at school by February 20. This is a proud Houghtaling tradition going back nearly 20 years. Houghtaling students should feel proud of their work to help others!

  • Student Attendance

School attendance is very important. In an attempt to have your students attendance as accurate as possible, Houghtaling Elementary has recently moved to an automated attendance system. If your child is not in school, and you have not contacted the office as to why, you will receive the message. All attendance is flagged as unexcused until parent contact is made. If you receive a message, please contact the office right away and the attendance will be updated. One more note - all unexcused absenceses are reported to the state for truancy. During this transition phase, it may be possible that you get more then one phone call. The office thanks you in advance for your patience as we work out the kinks!

  • Medicine at School

The Houghtaling office does not have a registered nurse on staff. Students needing medicine at school must first have a medication form signed by parents on file in the health clerks office. This includes cough drops, anbesol, lotions, etc. If you child needs to have this items at school, please accompany them into the school office to have the proper paperwork signed.
